Scarefest 2011, day 2
I think it was prolly 3 am before Barb & I got to sleep Friday night. We kept bouncing and squealing over the time we'd had, and thinking of other things about the night. Like, Zak's not 6 foot. No way. I'm 5-7 barefoot, was wearing boots with heels about 3 inches, and I could almost look him in the eye. Not like that's a bad thing. Dynamite comes in small packages, yanno. (guh) Another thing I noticed--every time Zak took off across the bar to talk to somebody (or to bitch at the dj to play faster music, lol) no matter who Aaron was talking to or what he was doing his eyes always followed Zak away and he kept glanced over every now & then till Zak came back. So sweet!
Anyway, we finally got some shut eye and got up Saturday morning and high tailed it over to the con. This time as soon as the doors opened we went straight for the GAC line. We hung out there and talked with some folks; people literally came from all over for this event. Aaron was there right away but Zak didn't show for 20 minutes or so...we figured either he'd had a rough rest of the night, or couldn't get his hair fixed right. :D Finally the line out in the hallway began to move and after a few more minutes we were at the table. First we saw Jay and a girl helping him & told him we had books for Zak to sign. They were selling t shirts and posters. I was tempted by the poster. "Ooh, there's a pic of Zak in his glasses," I said and sighed. "So glad he wore them on the show last night." "I talked him into that," Jay said. Not sure if he meant the poster or the show, but either way I thanked him profusely & made him laugh; if y'all know me you know those glasses are one of my weaknesses. I resisted buying it...for now.
Then there we are and there's Zak. We said hi, he asked me my name & how to spell it so he could sign my book,I told him how much I liked it & he said thank you. While he signed I dug my lil-Zak out of my bag and held it up. "I brought something I made to show you--I know you aren't fond of dolls but I thought you might make an exception 'cause it's you!" I said. He laughed and checked it out. Then I dug in the bag again. "I did make this for you though, it's for your dungeon, or wherever." It's so funny the things that stick out in your mind, but the feeling of placing that little crocheted skull firmly in his hand and his fingers closing around it? That will stick with me. He turned it around in his hands and said "oh this is great! you made it? thank you!" And THEN I said "it's stuffed with some protective herbs" and pulled out of the back of my book a sticky note with the herbs and their purposes and smacked it down on the table and said "here, I wrote them down for you" and his jaw dropped! If anything that seemed to be the thing he liked best. :D Then Barb took a pic of us.
When Zak was signing Barb's book she asked if he helped Adam with the tequila and he said no, he stuck with beer. "After a long hard day you just have to relax," he said, and I swear his tone sounded apologetic! We looked at him like he was crazy and went "uh, YEAH" and he grinned. I mentioned him wearing his glasses on the season premiere & he said he lost them, to which I replied "that sucks! cause you look so good in them" and he made a pshaw noise. hehe. Oh, and then he started talking to the girls behind us who said they liked the ep too, and he kept saying he didn't think it was their best. I thought "mmm hmm, is that because you came out about being bullied as a kid? maybe you wanted to edit that out & they wouldn't let you? hm".
And then there's Aaron! Who was all bouncy and sort of Tigger like. But his eyes are so dark and yummy. sigh. So we said hi & how did he like the party, and he chatted with Barb while I went thru his photos to buy one to get signed. Finally I said "I want this one, 'cause you look really hawt in it, and I'm shallow." He laughed like nobody ever tells him he's hot. So repeat the bag performance, except this time Aaron all but squeed and took lil-Aaron right out of my hand and checked out his Big Steppin hoodie and the hood and the Starbucks cup, and hollered at Zak and held it up so he could see. Then he said "Can I keep this? s it for me?" well, that wasn't my intent, but I learned the hard way once before what the right answer is in this sitch. "Sure! if you want him he is yours", I said. "I made this for you too though." He liked the skull too, except when I told him about the herbs he said "Oh I don't want to get rid of my nightmares! I don't want to be cleansed." 0_0 But he was just so excited it made my day. He took a pic of both gifts with me, and then we took pix of both of us with them & I promised him I'd post on fb and tag for him, which I did.
After catching our breath we rolled on--talked to Christian and Adam (the latter looked rather hung over but was still a doll) and Lance Henrikson, who I've loved since The X Files and Millennium. Barb hooked up with Kane Hodder, who was just a delight, and at Aron Houdini's show in the afternoon he spotted me and called me up to help him with a trick. (I knew how it was done--I've been into magic since I was a kid--but that matters not to me. When you know how it's done your appreciation is all in the execution, and his is marvelous!) We got supper and chilled in our room for a while til time for the ghost hunt. It was weird watching GA having spent a good bit of time the past 2 days around Zak & Aaron. Kind of like when a former co worker of mine got a record deal & I'd see her videos on tv all the time.
The ghost hunt was a bust--what ghost is gonna come out with 40 strangers running around a building all lit up? Jeez. But we met a bunch of neat people including a couple who won a contest to get married at the con, so we promised them we'd be in attendance.

ETA--oh! I almost forgot this--when we were talking to Aaron I don't remember how it came up but I asked if he had clobbered Zak yet for what he said in his book about him. Zak heard us & said "no he hasn't cuz he hasn't read the book & probably never will" so they started picking at each other over that, lol! (what I meant was when Zak said 'I love Aaron like a brother but he is the Will Farrell of paranormal investigation') Then I asked Zak if Nick had clobbered him for misspelling his name in the book. Zak said they were in a hurry to get the book out & he knew at least 3 typos that were being fixed in the next edition. I said I'd rather have the one with the typos 'cause it was the first edition I camped at the bookstore for. He smiled and seemed to like that.
